Scholarship Information:
The NHSC scholarship is a competitive program that pays tuition, fees and provides a living stipend to students enrolled in accredited medical (MD or DO), dental, nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, and physician assistant training. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients serve as primary care providers between two and four years in a community-based site in a high-need Health Professional Shortage Area that has been approved by the NHSC as a service site.
Awards are made to applicants most committed to serving underserved people and most likely to build successful careers in shortage areas and meet future needs for care throughout the Nation.
NHSC helps scholars select a compatible service site and pays for travel to and from interviews.

Eligibility Requirements:
Residents of Alabama and northwest Florida who attend a recognized private medical school (wherever located) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. - Applicant must have attended at least four of the six secondary grade school years and graduated from a high school in Santa Barbara County, California.
- Applicant must be a full-time medical student or graduate student at an approved U.S. college or university. Areas of study include medicine, law, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, business, education, and a variety of Master's and PhD programs.
- The Foundation assists students studying in standard academic programs on a traditional academic calendar. The Foundation does not offer aid for weekend programs, night programs, summer session, research, part-time studies, and correspondence, online or off-site studies.
- Applicant must complete a Scholarship Foundation application online and submit all supporting materials by January 31. A personal interview in Santa Barbara, California is required in March.

The Pisacano Leadership Foundation (PLF) seeks to advance family medicine by providing well-educated, community-minded leaders in primary care. By aiding students who demonstrate the highest levels of commitment to family medicine, scholarship, leadership, character, interpersonal skills, and community service, the PLF will promote the development of the future leaders in the specialty.
The Pisacano Scholars Leadership program is designed to provide educational programs, leadership training, and funding to reimburse a portion of medical school-related debt. Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding medical students for a four-year period. Students who have made a commitment to the field of family medicine and who will enter their fourth year in medical school in the fall of 2016 may apply. - Resident of Connecticut for five years
- Third-year medical student in a four-year program
- Current enrollment in a not-for-profit medical school accredited by the AMA/WHO
- Have financial need
- Academic excellence determined by a copy of the applicant’s transcript and the results of participation in Part I of the National Boards
- Extracurricular interest and community service
- Letters of recommendation

Eligibility Requirements:
The Joseph Collins Foundation was established with the purpose of aiding needy medical students to achieve an adequate education without sacrificing all other interests in the broad fields of learning. To qualify, students must be a student attending an accredited medical school geographically located east of or contiguous to the Mississippi River. Students must stand in the upper half of their class; demonstrate an interest in the arts or other cultural pursuits outside of medicine; have an interest in specializing in neurology, psychiatry, or becoming a general practitioner, and be of good moral character. All application materials must be typewritten.

Eligibility Requirements:
Every year, the Women's Board supports a number of medical, nursing, and public health students (among others) through scholarships. During the 2015-2016 academic year, the Women's Board will be offering the following:
FOUR MEDICAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR $6,000 EACH. These medical school scholarships are awarded to support medical students in their fourth year of education at the SMHS.
Recipients are selected based on various criteria, including but not limited to academic excellence, community involvement, and a commitment to the field of medicine. The selection process for the third-years will take place in the Spring 2016.
The Women's Board is proud to support the education of the medical, nursing, and public health students at GWUH/SMHS.
