The consumer information page contains important resources for prospective and current GW students and to assist the GW community in finding important institutional information.
Thank you for your interest in the GW SMHS Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Program. This information is applicable to all applicants and current students. We encourage you to take time to read this material thoroughly. It is intended to provide you with basic information about our financial aid programs and policies.
We encourage you to share this information with your families, spouses, and/or significant others. The primary responsibility for funding your education rests with you and your family. However, it is understandable that the amount you and your family can contribute may not always be sufficient to meet the costs of attending the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program. This is very important to consider as students are not able to work while enrolled in the program. There are other resources that can be considered, though the most reliable (federal student loans) will not cover the cost of attendance.
Please keep in mind that there are limits to Federal Direct Student Loan eligibility. For undergraduate programs, the aggregate borrowing limit is $57,500 in a combination of subsidized and unsubsidized loans. If you have reached your limit you will need to find other sources of funding. Additionally, if you are eligible to obtain Federal Direct Student Loans, the annual limit for an undergraduate independent student is $12,500 and $7500 for a dependent student, these are subject to your FAFSA Student Aid Index, as well. Though some partial tuition institutional scholarships are available to help students with need, post-baccalaureate program students are not eligible for Pell Grants.
The SMHS Office of Financial Aid is committed to providing each student with the individualized attention that each deserves. All eligible students who qualify are provided financial aid based on demonstrated financial need and availability of funds.
